MALES

The photo above is of Ranger, our first male Golden (never bred), who will forever hold a special place in our hearts. He was our beloved gentle giant and continues to inspire us to select only proven, healthy sires for our breeding program. At Cedar Rock Golden Retrievers, our stud selection process is thoughtful, deliberate and rooted in a steadfast commitment to preserving and improving the Golden Retriever breed. We carefully select healthy, titled males (AKC or UKC), whos pedigrees compliment our females and align with our goals for sound genetics, exceptional conformation, and balanced temperament. Each prospective stud must meet the highest standards, with complete DNA testing and OFA and CHIC health certifications for hips, elbows, eyes, and heart. Every decision is made with purpose and care—to produce puppies that embody the beauty, intelligence, and the gentle spirit that are the breed standard.

This page is updated when final decisions are made for an ideal Golden Retriever breeding pair.

UPDATE: We hope to soon identify a sire to welcome in to our program permanently. If you want to stay in the loop, check back often, as things are always changing around here. 🙂 So much goes into bringing a sire into a program. So many stars must first aline. First, they have to meet your specific breeding goals, and candidate indexes, then they have to be evaluated for individual genetic traits, health history, line longevity, temperament, structure and soundness. And the pedigree analysis rabbit hole, checking and double checking lines to ensure a low COI (coefficient of Inbreeding) and hoping for a true outcross. It’s a lot and finding a diamond in the ‘RUFF’ isn’t easy. It’s going to take a while, but we have begun the process. We can’t wait to welcome this little guy!
