Life’s Ruff For Our Golden Retrievers:

Meadow’s Early Adventures

Yard Work Passion

Meadow woke up early on her 4th Day at Cedar Rock Golden Retrievers, ready to get busy exploring. One of her favorite activities that morning was digging in the yard, and it quickly became clear that she may have a particular enthusiasm for the soil beneath her paws.

After all that digging, a spa day was in order. The bathroom heater was turned on, the bathtub was filled with a few inches of warm water, and Meadow relaxed beautifully during her first bath. By the time she was finished, she was cream-colored again instead of covered in green grass and mud, and she even settled in for a quick nap on a towel before her next adventure.

Veterinarian Visit

That next stop was the veterinarian for Meadow’s Week 8 Visit. She was greeted with plenty of kindness, pets, and admiration from the staff, who treated her like the little superstar she is. Her first exam was thorough and reassuring, including a check of her eyes, nose, teeth, tongue, heart, elbows, hips, tail, and little girly parts, which is all part of a routine puppy wellness visit. Meadow is eight weeks old and appears to be in excellent health. Her next appointment is scheduled for just a few weeks from now. We will be looking forward to seeing how she grows before  the next appointment.

Visiting Town

From there, Meadow headed back into the car and on to downtown Snohomish, one of the cutest towns in the Pacific Northwest. Her next adventure was a stroller walk along the Centennial Trail, starting near the Snohomish Bakery area. The goal for the outing was simple: to gently introduce her to the sights and sounds of the world and see what she would notice along the way.

She noticed quite a lot. Meadow’s stroller passed two dogs, and she remained calm and observant without reacting. Soon after, she saw a man on a bike wearing a helmet, moving quickly down the trail, and once again Meadow simply watched, taking it all in. The Centennial Trail is a popular paved trail for walking and biking, and it made a wonderful setting for this kind of early socialization.

The outing continued into the park, where six preschoolers were busy playing, running, yelling, sliding, swinging, and crying. Meadow watched the whole scene with quiet confidence, showing a steady and thoughtful nature. After such a full morning, it was time for a short ride home and a well-earned nap before more adventures later in the afternoon.
